U9-12 GIRLS DIRECTOR:

USSF C licensed coach, Paul Gregory returns to Palm Beach Gardens Predators as Girl’s Academy Director.  Paul is a South Florida native who grew up playing club soccer in Sunrise, Fl, graduated from Piper High School and attended Stetson University in Deland.  While at Stetson, Paul suffered a career ending ankle injury his freshman season prior to transferring and graduating from the University of South Florida. After graduation Paul returned to South Florida and began his coaching career at Coral Springs Renegades. Over the course of the past 18 years Paul has had the opportunity to facilitate the development of numerous youth players who have gone on to make the ODP selection at the State, Regional and Youth National Team levels.  In addition to coaching youth club soccer Paul also coaches at the high school level. Paul’s high school coaching experience has spanned over 11 seasons as both an assistant and head coach in the public and private school sectors.  Collectively, during those 11 seasons, he’s had the opportunity to capture 9 District titles, 4 Regional titles and 1 State Championship while at Stoneman Douglas HS, American Heritage of Boca/Delray, and Cardinal Gibbons HS. Additionally, he was recognized as Palm Beach County’s Coach of the Year for 2015 and 2016.  In conjunction with coaching multiple student athletes to Player of the Year recognition Paul has contributed to the development of student athletes who have earned scholarships to further their playing careers at the collegiate level.

Some of Paul’s proudest achievements as a coach are knowing that he inspired former players to give back by entering into the coaching arena themselves in order to promote the game in a positive manner.  This “players first” mentality has brought him success throughout his youth club and high school coaching career. Now heading into his 19th year of coaching Paul has clearly established his love for working with the younger player.  No stranger to the position of Academy Director, Paul has held this position at both Coral Springs Renegades and AC Delray. He’s also previously held positions as Director of coaching and Technical Director at Coral Springs United. His primary focus, and strength in coaching, is working with players in the growth stages of their development, from the ages of 10-14.  His personal philosophy is one that embraces the emotional and psycho/social development of the child along with the physical. When asked why he chose to focus on girl’s development for the 12 and under age group he answers, “ I feel I can make a significant difference in how girl’s cognitively process game information, develop choices and execute their decisions effectively while building their confidence in such a way that they become a complete player and person.  A player who is technically proficient, tactically aware and emotionally confident”. Paul is as invested in developing the player on the field as he is in supporting positive character development off the field. “I see soccer as a venue in which young girls have the opportunity to become strong, confident individuals who learn to navigate through challenging experiences that help prepare them for success in all their future endeavors. It isn’t just a game, it is a training ground for life”.
